Usedkit is a WooCommerce plugin for shops that sell used, one-of-a-kind items. WooCommerce is built for stock that is restocked; Usedkit adds what a used-goods shop needs: customers told when the next one of a sold model comes in, however the shop titles it, condition grades, offers, holds for pickup, automatic markdowns, prices from the shop's own sales and the used market, trade-ins with a purchase register, margin-scheme VAT and the EU lowest-price rule for discounts. ### Why not a back-in-stock app? Back-in-stock apps wait for the same product to be restocked. A used item is sold once and never restocked: the next one is a new product with a different title, condition and price. Usedkit matches the new listing to the waiting customer by model, so 'Sony Alpha 7 III body, excellent' reaches someone who signed up on a sold 'Sony A7 III runko'. ### How does Usedkit know two listings are the same model? For cameras and lenses it uses the matcher behind Kamarvo, which identifies one model across ten shops in six languages: maker codes, abbreviations, word order and language don't matter. Camera bodies match by exact model, so an A7 III watcher is never sent an A7 IV. For other goods it matches on the words of the listing, and the shop can set the model itself for any product. ### Which shops is it for? WooCommerce shops selling used goods: camera and lens shops first, but anything where items are one of a kind (audio, music gear, bikes, watches, vintage). A Shopify version is planned. ### Is it GDPR compliant? Customers confirm by email before anything is sent (double opt-in), every email has a one-click unsubscribe, and only the email address and the model are stored. The shop is the controller of that data and Usedkit its processor; a customer can be erased on request. Data is stored in the EU (Finland). ### What does it cost? Free during early access. After that a flat monthly price per shop, with no per-email fees. Shops that join during early access are told the price well before it applies, and can leave at any time. ### How do I start? Sign up at /start with your shop's name and address: the API key arrives by email. Install the plugin, paste the key, and send your products once. It takes about five minutes. ### What are the other features? Condition grades (New to For parts) shown on the product, in a shop filter and in the structured data Google Shopping reads. Make an offer, with offers accepted or turned down at once by your rules. Reserve for pickup. Automatic markdowns that never go below your purchase price plus a margin, telling waiting customers when a cut meets their maximum price. What you have sold the same model for, beside your price. Trade-in offers from the market price or your own sales, with requests that become draft products, and a purchase register with seller and serial number. A one-screen phone intake. Sold items can leave your listings while their pages stay live with the sign-up form and similar items in stock. The shop owner gets a weekly email of what customers are waiting for. ### Does it handle margin-scheme VAT? Yes. Mark products as margin-scheme items and enter what you paid; they are sold without separately charged VAT, each order line stores its margin VAT, order pages and emails carry the wording the VAT Directive requires, and a monthly or quarterly report (per item, or the global margin of the period with losses carried forward where allowed) exports to CSV for your accountant. ### Does it show the lowest price before a discount (Omnibus)? Yes. Usedkit keeps every product's price history and shows the lowest price of the 30 days before a discount next to the sale price. The period can be changed for countries that set a different one. ### Which languages? Ten: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Dutch, Portuguese, Swedish and Finnish, in the plugin, in customers' emails and on this site. A customer's emails are in the language of the shop's site. ### What is the margin scheme? A special VAT arrangement for dealers in second-hand goods, works of art, collectors' items and antiques (EU VAT Directive 2006/112/EC, Articles 311 to 325). When the dealer bought the item without VAT — from a private person, or from another dealer who sold it under the margin scheme — VAT is paid only on the margin: the selling price less the purchase price. ### How is margin scheme VAT calculated? The margin includes the VAT, so the VAT is the margin times rate / (100 + rate). A camera bought for 450 and sold for 549 at Finland's 25.5 % has a margin of 99 and VAT of 99 x 25.5 / 125.5 = 20.12. Sold at a loss, an item has no VAT. ### What must the invoice say? It must not show VAT, and it must refer to the scheme: 'Margin scheme - Second-hand goods' (Article 226(14)), in each country's own language. A business buyer cannot deduct VAT on a margin-scheme item. ### What is the global margin? Some countries let dealers work out the margin per tax period instead of per item: the period's margin-scheme sales less its margin-scheme purchases, sold or not. Losses offset gains, and a negative period margin may carry into the next period. Per item is the default; whether the global method is open to you is a question for your tax authority or accountant. ### Which goods qualify? Used goods bought for resale without VAT: from consumers, from businesses not registered for VAT, or from dealers who sold under the margin scheme. New goods do not qualify, and neither do goods whose purchase included deductible VAT. Each sale may also be made under normal VAT instead. ### What does the rule say? When a shop announces a price reduction to consumers, it must show the prior price: the lowest price it charged for the item in at least the 30 days before the reduction (Price Indication Directive 98/6/EC, Article 6a, added by the Omnibus Directive 2019/2161). It has applied across the EU since 28 May 2022. ### Does it apply to used goods? Yes: it applies to any announced price reduction on goods sold to consumers, including a one-of-a-kind used item. A plain price change without presenting it as a reduction is not covered. ### What about an item listed less than 30 days ago? Countries may allow a shorter period for goods on the market for less than 30 days, and set their own rules for perishable goods and for progressive reductions, where the prior price is the one before the first reduction. Check your own country's rules. ### How do I show it in WooCommerce? WooCommerce does not keep price history, so it cannot show the lowest prior price on its own. Usedkit records every product's price as it changes and shows 'Lowest price in the 30 days before the discount' next to each sale price, with the period adjustable. Its automatic markdowns keep the figure right as they go.
